This article is bitter sweet: sweet that the WSJ has finally admitted that peak oil is valid, and bitter that nimrods like Gold and Davis go through such nauseating contortions to steal the peak oil story, but try to re-brand it so that it sounds like something original.

Peak oil IS about peak production, with geological ("below ground") issues being one of many factors considered. The peak oil warning comprehends ALL of their "above ground" issues in the article. They even stole the "undulating plateau" terminology that has long been described.

Anyone who says that the peak oil theory had been disproved shows that they really don't understand it. The production numbers of fossil fuel production WILL peak at some point, and then start to decline. If geological issues weren't an issue, then above ground issues could probably never impose this peak by themselves. All that's left is a little bit of haggling over the dates, and for one person's predicted date to come and pass without obvious PO does not constitute a repudiation of PO. And for the record, the statistical spread of the date estimates has been getting tighter/smaller and appears to be converging. So peak oil as a theory, rather than being disproved is becoming more pertinent and impending.

Bravo WSJ for printing an article with this topic; but I am underwhelmed by the voices you used for the message.

No Pun Intended...

I was very happy to see two Representatives, Mike Boland and Elaine Nekritz, make the same point about consumer choice which I wrote about in a previous blog post. They both spoke of their desire to buy an American, union- made car that gets great gas ...

Hello,

I am trying to get in touch with someone who can assist me in applying for a welding job on the sands-oil project in Alberta. Can you please point me in the right direction? Thank you.
