Published: February 3, 2008

YENAGOA, Nigeria: Gunmen battled troops near a petroleum-pumping station in Nigeria’s lawless southern oil region, leaving three soldiers and an unknown number of assailants dead, authorities said Sunday.

Oil production was not affected during the incident, said Royal Dutch Shell PLC, near whose oil-pipeline intersection point the fighting took place.

Three troops died during the overnight firefight in Nigeria’s oil-rich southern swamps, but the number of casualties among the attackers wasn’t known, said Lt. Col. Christopher Musa, of the military force patrolling the region. No major militant group claimed the attack. read more

LAGOS (Reuters) – Three soldiers and eight militants were killed in a gun battle at an oil pipeline hub operated by Royal Dutch Shell in Nigeria’s southern state of Bayelsa, the navy said on Sunday.

Shell said the Tora manifold, which sends oil to the Bonny export terminal, was not damaged in the attack late on Saturday and oil production in Nigeria, the world’s eighth largest oil exporter, was unaffected.

“Some militants attacked the Tora manifold where we had some men. There was an exchange of fire and they killed three of our men. The militants lost eight,” navy spokesman Henry Babalola said. read more

The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel: The UK: Quality Courts Attract Business

Metropolitan Corporate Counsel image: Lord Falconer

Lord Charles Falconer

(Sir Hugh Laddie mentioned in the article below was the Judge for the Donovan -v- Shell U.K. Limited “Shell Smart” trial at the Royal Courts of Justice. At the time, he was still a High Court Judge known as Mr Justice Laddie. He resigned from being a Judge in controversial circumstances. By coincidence or otherwise, this was subsequent to a letter of complaint sent by Alfred Donovan to the Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer. Professor Sir Hugh Laddie QC as he is now known, had an undeclared commercial association with the son of the Group Chairman of Shell at the time of the trial – barrister Tom Moody-Stuart is the son of Sir Mark Moody-Stuart. Sir Hugh had a commercial relationship with Shell Legal Counsel Richard Wiseman after the trial and now works for a law firm which has Shell as a client.) read more

Orlando Sentinel: EDITORIAL: Our position: The imperiled polar bears may be the victims of more gas and oil exploration

February 3, 2008

You don’t need Sherlock Holmes to find who’s responsible for this crime-in-the-making.

By law, the Interior Department was supposed to declare by Jan. 9 whether polar bears should be designated a threatened species.

And signs pointed to their getting that designation: The U.S. Geological Survey in September concluded that two-thirds of the world’s largest land predators would die off because of ice thinning due to global warming. And it was the Interior Department secretary himself who proposed the threatened listing nine months before that, in January 2007. read more

guest_6967 : Lets be clear the Donovans are failed Business Men who built their company around one client. Namely Shell..when Shell no longer required their serices they lost their business. The Donovns then went the compensation route…Today this website exists because they have not come to terms with the fact they lost their business and continueto blame Shell for this. The Donovans will only stop publishing Bias information once they receive a sizable compensation. As I said for the Donovans this website
Pt 2. This Website is about “Compensation before Principles” For the Donovans they are now so bitter that they need hugh compensation. Either financial or emotional
