WASHINGTON - America spent $2.6 million to lobby on oil and gas production and exploration, as well as foreign trade agreements and other issues in the first quarter of the year.

The U.S. subsidiary of BP (nyse: BP -news people ) PLC also lobbied on legislation dealing with climate change, commodities regulation and price manipulation, tax issues and more, according to the form posted online April 21 by the House clerk’s office.

The company spent more than $4.6 million to lobby the federal government in 2007.

Besides Congress, BP America lobbied the White House, Environmental Protection Agency, and the departments of State, Energy and Interior.

Rachel Miller, a former legislative assistant for Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., was among those lobbying on BP America’s behalf in the first three months of the year.
