Washington fines Shell refinery $110,000
ANACORTES, Wash. — The Washington Department of Labor and Industries has cited the Shell refinery at Anacortes for 23 safety and health violations and proposed $110,000 in penalties.
The department says the refinery was the first of four large refineries in the state to have a comprehensive inspection as part of a national emphasis program.
A refinery spokesman, Brian Sibley, says it’s reviewing Wednesday’s citation and will respond within the 15-day appeal period.
