Pension deficits return to haunt blue-chips

A study by consultants Lane Clark & Peacock found a massive turnaround in corporate pension accounts. Royal Dutch Shell's scheme saw a surplus of £6.8 billion turned into a deficit of £5.6 billion.

Interesting that this posting on our Shell Blog, raising the issue of age discrimination in the restructuring process, is directed at Shell veteran Richard Wiseman, the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer of Royal Dutch Shell Plc who is close to retirement age.

Shell encourages anyone with knowledge of activities that go against the company’s code of conduct to step forward and bring those activities to the attention of the Ethics and Compliance manager. The reorganization has provided many examples of actions that violate not just the code of conduct, but the laws of several countries in which Shell operates. I use this way to bring these actions to the attention of the Ethics and Compliance manager since I do fear retribution and a witch hunt, even with all the assurances to the contrary. The violations permeate throughout the process and come down from the high level in the EC. read more

Action being taken in respect of sinister revelations in Shell emails

The situation becomes ever more sinister regarding Shell’s reaction to this website royaldutchshellplc.com

On 4 December, an Internet security expert for a prominent US newspaper received an email purportedly from me – [email protected]. In fact, I sent no such email. It related to revelations contained in the Shell emails released to us under the Data Protection Act, and to the US National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance. The expert is investigating.

Within the documents Shell lawyers supplied in our first DPA application in 2007, was a Shell internal email dated 9 March 2007 revealing that a counter-measures team was being set up inside Shell and that it had decidedly hostile intent towards us and our website. read more
