U.S. Depart of the Interior considers action against Shell Oil

By John Donovan

We have received an email from Edward Woo, a senior official of The Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of the Interior, charged with addressing allegations of fraud, waste, and mismanagement in the (DOI).

Mr Woo has confirmed that senior management officials of the Office of Investigations have reviewed certain issues we raised concerning Royal Dutch Shell. This included Shell’s espionage activities on U.S. soil and in relation to Shell’s planned drilling in the Arctic Ocean.

As a result, relevant matters have been referred to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement for further review and “any action deemed appropriate”.
