Sadistic Sacking of Shell Exploration & Production Boss

By John Donovan

No, we are not necessarily talking about the sudden departure announced this week of Shell EP boss, Malcolm Brinded, but his immediate predecessor, Walter van de Vijver.

In a press statement issued by Shell on 3rd March 2004, following shareholder outcry over the reserves fraud, Shell announced:

“Mr Walter van de Vijver has stepped down from the Board of Management of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and as a Group Managing Director, by mutual consent. Mr van de Vijverâs duties as Chief Executive of Shell’s Exploration and Production business will be assumed by Mr Brinded…”

We can now read in a court deposition given under oath, the dramatic and emotional account by van de Vijver himself of how he was brutally pressurised into resigning by his colleagues, including Jeroen van der Veer. A masterclass in backstabbing. Accessible here

With regards to Malcolm Brinded, we now have information received from Shell insider sources and are making associated inquiries. We plan to publish more information at 3pm tomorrow, Friday. Shell and Mr Brinded are aware of our plans.
