HOW TO GUT GOLIATH

At long last, someone has written an invaluable guide on how ordinary individuals can publicly criticize the rich and powerful, including multinational corporations, by using the Internet.

EXTRACT: …the most successful gripe site of all time, which targets Shell Oil, actually operates under the domain name royaldutchshellplc.com, Shell’s legal trading name.

ALLEGED BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION AT SHELL MOTIVA

The supplier in question advised us of a favored relationship Shell has had with a rival vendor. It became plain that unless they were prepared to abandon their own principles and hand out substantial bribes, they might as well give up trying to do business with Shell/Motiva. Contract/procurement decisions are allegedly made not on competitive pricing and first class support, but instead on the size and frequency of bribes. So its basically, cough up or give up.

SHELL BP CORPORATE ESPIONAGE

Hakluyt, founded and heavily populated by former MI6 officers, has been closely associated with its client Shell, at one point sharing common directors and major shareholders. Sir William Purves and the late Sir Peter Holmes, a former Group Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell Group, were the ultimate spymasters at Hakluyt when it carried out undercover work on behalf of Shell in many Countries.

GLOBALIZATION OF CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS

From the outset of the litigation, Lead Counsel used our website royaldutchshellplc.com to generate witnesses and evidence, including important information from Dr John Huong, the Shell production geologist who blew the whistle on the reserves fraud.

AGE DISCRIMINATION AT SHELL MOTIVA

I recently read on this website about the employee at Motiva Port Arthur who has a pending lawsuit against Motiva Port Arthur for age discrimination. They would target the individuals they wanted to get rid of and then they would pressure them to accept the severance package. I’ve seen Motiva Norco use this same practice for years. The people that were usually offered severance packages were white male employees over 50 years old.

CHINESE WHISPERS: THE DEATH OF A HAKLUYT AGENT

In relation to the sudden demise of the Hakluyt agent Neil Heywood, Hakluyt issued a statement on 27 March saying:

“Neil had a long history of advising western companies in China and we were among those who sought his advice. We are greatly saddened by his death”

Given the apparent role of Mr Heywood in China as a deal fixer with high level connections, and Shell’s long association with Hakluyt, I wondered whether Mr Heywood and/or Hakluyt, had any involvement/connection with the shale gas deals recently announced by Royal Dutch Shell?

UPDATE ADDED 6 April 2012: I have corresponded with Shell over the past few days on various matters. This included my invitation to RDS Company Secretary Michiel Brandjes to deny that Shell has had any connection with Neil Heywood/Hakluyt in relation to the recent shale gas deal signed with the Chinese government. Mr Brandjes has addressed other matters raised, but has chosen to ignore that matter entirely. I was surprised yesterday when Mr Brandjes raised the subject of Shell’s Code of Conduct. I thought Shell had forgotten about the existence of its claimed Business Principles.
