The State is starved of gas and several gas-fired power plants are lying idle without gas supplies. The gas flow has come down as output has dwindled from the Krishna Godavari basin fields of Reliance Industries Limited.

The State Government through Andhra Pradesh Gas Power Corporation has also initiated a project for floating re-gasification terminal in partnership with Gail Gas Limited, a subsidiary of Gail Limited and expects this to come up by second half of 2014.
