Activists demonstrating against Shell’s oil rig are blocking entrances to Terminal 5 in Seattle.
Stina Janssen, a spokeswoman for ShellNo, said the protesters are trying to “block work Tuesday in order to stop Shell drilling’s oil rig from going out on time.”
Janssen said about 25 protesters were “successfully able to block traffic this morning.” The protesters are split between an overpass near Terminal 5 and another entrance.
Janssen said the grannies want to prevent Arctic drilling and keep “our planet inhabitable for future generations.”
She said the protesters know they risk arrest, but said officers on the scene have let them demonstrate thus far.
