500 holiday workers from Shell Oil and Motiva Enterprises active in Houston Food Bank Project

Among them are about 150 volunteers from Hope Worldwide, an international humanitarian organization, and 500 holiday workers from Shell Oil Co. and its Motiva Enterprises subsidiary who will sort and pack groceries at Houston Food Bank, tutor a children’s literacy program and plant dozens of trees.

Oil market manipulation alleged

A Shell spokeswoman said Friday that while her company was no longer shipping oil to the refinery, other oil suppliers were free to use the pipeline. In addition, the refinery draws crude from another pipeline not owned by Shell, said spokeswoman Alison Chassin. Flying J owes Shell money for crude already delivered to the plant, an amount she said was in the “tens of millions” of dollars.

Controversy boils at idled refinery: Accusation against Shell Oil by union and consumer activists

Shell Oil Co. is putting the squeeze on a financially troubled Bakersfield refinery it sold in 2005 to Big West Oil, which could lead to the closing of the operation and potentially higher gasoline prices for California motorists, according to consumer activists and a union representing plant workers.

Shell seeks Yampa River water for oil-shale plans

Shell has yet to decide how much water it will need for oil shale development, and Boyd emphasized the company has yet to decide to seek commercial production. Company officials have said that decision is years away.

Shell Oil’s setback is unfortunate for the company

…absent any successful appeal, Shell and the MMS will need to find or conduct more studies that satisfy the scientific judgments of the judges. If the company and agency cannot do so, the Beaufort Sea lease agreement they entered won’t be worth more than the paper on which it’s printed. That would be an unfortunate result for the company and Alaska.

NedPower Mount Storm Wind Project Completed

Dominion and Shell WindEnergy Inc. announced today the completion of the NedPower Mount Storm LLC wind energy project in which they each own a 50% interest. Sited along the high ridges of West Virginia, the project is now fully operational, generating up to 264 megawatts of electricity from a renewable energy source for the mid-Atlantic power grid.

Shell Oil Finally Fined $345,744 For Deer Park Refinery Pollution

It took awhile, but state environmental regulators and Shell Oil finally came to meeting of the minds about a slew of pollution violations committed at the Deer Park refinery. Upshot: Shell will pay a $345,744 penalty for 35 emissions events and record-keeping violations that occurred from 2004 to 2006.

Groundwater contamination lawsuit settlement costs Shell $46 million

“There is $26 million sitting in J.P. Morgan bank, gathering dust,” he said. “All of it is earmarked for the Limestone residents.” That amount is separate from another $20 million from Shell for construction of water lines to provide Aqua Illinois service to residents where underground water has been contaminated by chemicals from the gasoline spill in 1988.
