Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng welcomed a delegation led by Malcolm Brinded, Vice Chairman of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group at the Xing Guo Hotel in the afternoon of June 11.

Mayor Han expected Malcolm Brinded, who is also a member of Shanghai Mayor’s international entrepreneur consulting conference, to raise more suggestions on the city’s development.

The Royal Dutch/Shell Group is appreciated for its long-term focus on the local economy, Han pointed out, adding that Shell is one of the most successful multinationals in the world.

Han Zheng briefed the guests on the local natural gas situation. Promoting the application of natural gas is an important part of the city’s energy source strategies, and the local natural gas investment project and gas supplies will both under the direction of the State Development and Reform Commission, Han said.

The city is expected to develop a more price-competitive natural gas industry on the basis of the safety of gas resources, he added.

Mr. Malcolm Brinded informed Han about Shell’s global investments. “Based on our technologies and experience, I expect our company and Shanghai can complement with each other,” the Vice Chairman said.
