Bandar Seri Begawan – As part of its ongoing efforts to contribute towards a sustainable environment, Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) yesterday organised the `Environmental Care Day’ at the Anduki Recreational Park.

The event was initiated by the Corporate External Affairs Department with the support of the Belait District Office, Municipal Department, PEMBELA and Brunei Shell Ladies Association (BSLA).

The event was graced by Acting Managing Director of BSP Awg Hj Zainal Abidin bin Hj MohdAli and his spouse Datin Hjh Hayati, who is head of the BSLA.

The campaign was an outreach programme carrying the message that the responsibility to protect and care for the environment should be shouldered by each individual.

The important message was channelled through different activities such as the Anduki Colour Challenge – for children between 4 and 12 years of age – which used National Geographic materials to further enhance the participants’ understanding of the environment.

The event started with registration followed by morning aerobics. Other exciting game included the Anduki Line Challenge, where contestants were required to catch a fish at the Anduki lagoon within two hours.

The day also saw a recycling activity for children – whereby dried leaves were used as materials for their art – a three-foot race, Anduki Marker Challenge, ping-pong race for children and the ‘Anduki Treasure Hunt.’

Winners were later awarded their prizes by Hj Zainal Abidin bin Hj Mohd Ali.

The day concluded with a cleaning up activity to reflect BSP’s concern and care towards the environment. Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
