MarketWatch: Shell’s western Gulf of Mexico facilities resume production

LONDON (MarketWatch) — Production is now flowing from all assets operated by Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSB.LN) in the Western Gulf of Mexico, which had been forced to shut because of Hurricane Katrina, the company said on its Web site.
Over the weekend, the Bullwinkle and West Cameron 565 fields resumed output, while production continues at Auger, Brutus, Cougar, Enchilada, and North Padre Island, the Anglo-Dutch company said.
But the Anglo-Dutch oil giant said it is evaluating any damage the hurricane has caused to its assets in the Eastern part of the Gulf, namely the Ursa, Cognac, West Delta 143 and Mars platforms.
Last week, the U.S. Coast Guard said the key Mars facility had been severely damaged.
The platform is designed to produce 220,000 barrels a day and 220 million cubic feet of natural gas a day, although output prior to the disaster was below those levels.
Shell added Monday that its Fairway facility and Yellowhammer gas processing plant near Mobile Bay are operating normally.
