The Moscow Times: Dutch Want More Access

AMSTERDAM — Dutch companies should have greater access to Russian energy production projects amid plans by Moscow to boost its energy investments in Europe, the Netherlands’ economic affairs minister, Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, said Tuesday.

The Netherlands wants greater access for companies such as Royal Dutch Shell, Europe’s second-largest oil company, to produce Russia’s oil and gas reserves in return for granting Russian companies access to the Dutch energy market, Brinkhorst said.

The Netherlands said in April that it would consider allowing Gazprom to invest in natural gas storage in the Netherlands and sell the fuel to consumers. In return, Dutch companies will then be given access to Russian production, Brinkhorst said. (Bloomberg)
