AMSTERDAM, July 3 (Reuters) – Anglo-Dutch oil giant Royal Dutch Shell Plc. (RDSa.L: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday that it had yet to complete a turnaround programme at its massive Pernis refinery in Rotterdam after three months of maintenance work.

A Shell spokesman declined to comment on the details of the Pernis refinery’s restart. “The turnaround programme is still ongoing, we have no comment on individual units or timing,” a spokesman for the oil major said.

Oil traders say that the 412,000 barrels per day (bpd) Dutch Pernis refinery has managed to restart its crude distillation unit, but the gasoline-making catalytic cracker, badly damaged by a utility failure in January, remains down.

The 50,000 bpd catalytic cracker, a major source of gasoline for Europe and the United States, has been closed for almost three months of maintenance work to resolve the glitches.

Early in June Shell failed to restart the crude unit and the start-up of the gasoline maker has been delayed until the end of this month.
