Financial Information Service (Russia): ‘Gazprom’ Hopes to Complete Talks on Participation in ‘Sakhalin-2’ Project Soon

MOSCOW, July 21. /FIS/. As announced by representative of Gazprom’s information department, at present the company continues negotiations with project operators.

Note that in 2005 ‘Gazprom’ signed a memorandum of understanding with Britain’s Shell. In accordance with this document ‘Gazprom’ is to acquire 25% plus one share of ‘Sakhalin Energy’ in exchange for 50% of JV ‘Zapolyarnoye-neocom’. ‘However almost immediately after the signing of the MOU ‘Sakhalin Energy’ announced an increase in the project budget, which almost doubled, which led to obvious complications with the talks’ said an expert.
