Shell Malaysia’s upstream and downstream assets won multiple awards including the grand prize at a Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) ceremony.

At an awards presentation on 8 September, Shell’s Labuan crude oil terminal garnered the Grand Award, the top prize in the sector for 2005.

Gold Merit awards went to Shell’s Port Dickson refinery, its Bintulu onshore facility, and its M1 offshore platform.

Gold Class 1 awards went to Shell’s Pasir Gudang depot and its Kinabalu offshore platform.

Shell Malaysia chairman Saw Choo Boon said: “I am very pleased with this validation of our safety and health performance – the awards also recognise continuous improvements in our occupational safety and health management systems.”

Wee Yiaw Hin, Sarawak Shell Berhad managing director, said: “I am very pleased that our upstream facilities delivered such an outstanding performance, and most especially with Labuan Crude Oil Terminal for the Grand Award. From our involvement with the audit conducted by representatives from various organisations, we know that the MSOSH OSH audit process was a rigorous one.”
