TEHRAN, Nov. 4 (Mehr News Agency) — The managing director of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) said here on Saturday that Royal Dutch Shell is planning to take part in the bid on the Master Development Plan (MDP) of an Iranian offshore gas field.

Mahmud Zirakchianzadeh told Mehr News Agency (Mehr News Agency) that a number of Iranian and foreign companies, including Shell, have shown interest in participation of the MDP tender on the Persian Gulf Kish gas field.

He also rejected any negotiation held with China over the development of the field.

In addition, an informed source from Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) told the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) on Saturday that the MDP of the Kish gas field is presently being prepared. Mehdi Bazargan revealed that no discussions have been so far held with any Iranian or foreign company on the development of the field.

According to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) officials, in-place reserves of the Kish gas field stand at 48 trillion cu. feet, and it has been proved as commercial. Estimations indicate that the field would produce 1.76 billion cu. feet of gas after development. The gas produced from Kish gas field is planned to supply domestic needs for injection into oilfields as well as for export purposes.
