Houston Chronicle: Shell units to close for maintenance

Royal Dutch Shell is shutting down 20 units at a Deer Park refinery for scheduled maintenance.

It will take three weeks to finish idling all of the units, according to a filing with Texas environmental regulators. The plant is owned by Shell and Mexico’s state oil company, Pemex. The refinery, which can process 340,000 barrels of crude a day, will operate at about 20 percent of capacity during the maintenance work, Shell spokesman David McKinney said. The work will be completed in mid-February.
