THE Prins Willem-Alexander School in Woking has also excelled with its exam results, following the curriculum operated in the Netherlands.
The Dutch school in Old Woking Road, which caters for children aged four to 12, has achieved the highest results in the annual CITO exams of all Dutch schools in the Netherlands and overseas.
CITO examinations are taken by pupils aged 12 as the final exam before they move to secondary schools and to some extent it determines the type of school they go to.
The students in Woking achieved an average score of 549.3 — the maximum is 550, and the national average in the Netherlands this year was 535.1.
The students, their parents, teacher Tom Navis and everyone at Prins Willem-Alexander School are very proud of their success.
The school was founded by Shell for Dutch employees of the oil company but is now attended by children whose parents work for the Dutch Embassy and multinational companies.
As a result the school is international in outlook, following both the international primary curriculum and the Dutch curriculum, in addition to teaching English throughout the school.
The recent United Nations report into the overall emotional wellbeing of schoolchildren found Dutch youngsters were the happiest and most balanced in the developed world.
