presstv.ir: Shell, Repsol start operations at Persian LNG

Iran has announced that Shell and Repsol have started operations for the development of a major project for production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in South Pars energy zone.

Shell and Repsol have signed a contract with Iran to develop Persian LNG at South Pars Phases 13 and 14.

Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company, Akbar Torkan, said the companies have started the engineering operations for Persian LNG and there have been no delays.

Torkan added that Shell and Repsol have awarded the contract for the project’s onshore engineering operations to France’s Technip.

Persian LNG is forecast to have a daily production of 3 billion cubic feet once operational in 2012.

Another major LNG project also planned in South Pars is Pars LNG, which is being pursued by a consortium comprising Total, Petronas and NIOC.
