Vol. 12, No. 16  Week of April 22, 2007

On April 17, Shell Exploration & Production Co. received its third national award since the end of March when the U.S. Department of the Interior presented the oil and gas major with its annual SAFE award.

SAFE, which stands for Safety Award for Excellence, recognizes offshore operators with “outstanding safety and pollution prevention” records, Interior’s Minerals Management Service said.

Walter Cruickshank, deputy director of MMS, presented the award to Shell in a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Earlier in April, Shell was one of four companies that won the Mineral Revenues Stewardship Award from Interior, an award which honors companies that demonstrate noteworthy cooperation with the Minerals Revenue Management Program in resolving issues related to reporting and compliance.

On March 29, Shell was awarded the 2006 National Ocean Industries Association Safety in Seas Award in recognition of the company’s “outstanding contribution to the safety of life offshore for energy workers.
