AMSTERDAM, May 14 (Reuters) – Anglo-Dutch oil giant Royal Dutch Shell Plc.  said on Monday that ABN AMRO Chief Executive Rijkman Groenink has asked for his nomination to Shell’s supervisory board to be withdrawn.

The oil company said it will accept his request and remove the resolution from its list of proposals for an annual shareholders meeting to be held on Tuesday.

“The reason for his decision is that he wants to fully dedicate his attention to ABN AMRO, given the current corporate activities around the company,” Shell said in a statement.

ABN is the target of a proposed buyout bid by a consortium of banks led by Royal Bank of Scotland, which is trying to beat an agreed takeover offer by Barclays.
