Shell has announced the launch of a new loyalty scheme, the Shell Drivers’ Club, to replace the ‘pluspoints’ loyalty card. The scheme rewards motorists with one point for every litre of petrol. Customers can redeem their points in two environmentally friendly ways:
* via donations to carbon reduction projects
* giving donations towards CO2 emission reduction projects which have been verified in accordance with UN procedures. Shell will match all customer points donations in this area and email certificates to customers every quarter to inform them of their contribution.
Points can also be redeemed in a more traditional way, with Airmiles and money off fuel or high street shopping. The card has been launched with a nine-week promotion which is giving away 100,000 points per day.
