Aberdeen Press & Journal: PLATFORM WITHOUT POWER (7 August story)

08:50 – 07 August 2007

Shell last night confirmed its Brent Bravo platform in the North Sea was still without power or hot water following the evacuation of 61 workers at the weekend.

The platform, 116 miles north-east of Lerwick in Shetland, is currently getting three months of routine maintenance and has a core crew of 90 people still on board.

The company insists there is no threat to the safety of the remaining crew and said those evacuated on Sunday were removed as a “precautionary measure”.

Shell could not say when power would be restored on the platform.
