International Herald Tribune: Shell hires president for its LNG business

By – Takahiko Hyuga Bloomberg News Published: August 21, 2007

Royal Dutch Shell said Monday that it had hired Kathleen Eisbrenner to head its global liquefied natural gas business.

Eisbrenner, who was president of Excelerate Energy, a Texas-based developer of LNG import terminals, was appointed executive vice president, global LNG, effective Oct. 1.

Eisbrenner, who will be based in The Hague, will be responsible for Shell’s global LNG business, including LNG trading, and will report to Linda Cook, executive director of Shell Gas & Power International, said Andy Norman, a spokesman for Shell Gas & Power.

Shell said in June that it planned to increase LNG sales by about 8 percent this year to meet demand. Excelerate, which is controlled by the billionaire George Kaiser, owns the Gulf Gateway LNG import terminal in the Gulf of Mexico, which started in March 2005, and opened a terminal in Britain this year. – Angela Macdonald-Smith
