More than 40 Shell to Sea protesters are blocking trucks from entering the proposed Corrib gas refinery site in north Mayo.
Twenty of them entered the site this morning before being asked to leave by the Gardai, who are now calling for back-up to deal with the blockade.
A spokesperson for Shell to Sea says they have safety concerns over concrete pylons being used on the site.
