ZURICH (Thomson Financial) – Swiss retailer Migros Genossenschaftsbund, and Royal Dutch Shell have agreed to join forces in Switzerland, Sunday newspaper SonntagsZeitung reported without disclosing its sources.

The newspaper said the Swiss group will take over the oil company’s petrol station shops and Shell the running of Migros’s petrol stations.

Both companies confirmed they have agreed to test the new concept on four petrol stations over the next six months.

The Swiss newspaper said the shops will be named avec while Migros’s Migrol petrol stations will rebranded as Shell.

The newspaper said 100-135 Shell petrol station shops could eventually be handed over to Migros, which is Switzerland’s largest retailer.
