Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) — The following stocks may rise or fall in U.K. markets today. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are from the last market close.
The benchmark FTSE 100 Index rose 54.7, or 0.9 percent, to close at 6,514. The FTSE All-Share Index gained 32.44, or 1 percent, to 3,351.93.
U.K. Companies:
BG Group Plc (BG/ LN): Allen & Overy LLP’s Graham Vinter was named general counsel at BG Group, the U.K.’s third-largest natural-gas producer. BG’s stock remained unchanged at 863 pence.
BP Plc (BP/ LN): Europe’s second-biggest oil company, has agreed to pay $303 million to settle civil charges that it manipulated prices in the U.S. propane market three years ago, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter. BP’s stock increased 7 pence, or 1.2 percent, to 612.
Resolution Plc (RSL LN): Standard Life Plc, vying with Pearl Group Ltd. to buy Resolution, said it hasn’t decided whether to bid for the insurer or what the terms would be. Resolution’s stock remained unchanged at 718 pence.
Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA LN): Europe’s largest oil company, released benzene into the air yesterday after a pressure gauge malfunctioned at its refining complex in Deer Park, Texas. Shells’ stock remained unchanged at 2,032 pence.
