Forbes / AFX News Limited: Australia’s Woodside signs deal to sell LNG to Taiwan’s CPC Corp

SYDNEY (Thomson Financial) – Australia’s leading oil and gas group Woodside Petroleum Ltd said Monday it has signed a deal to supply liquefied natural gas from its still to be developed Browse Basin project in northwest Australia to Taiwanese state oil company CPC Corp.

Woodside, 34 percent owned by the Royal Dutch Shell (nyse: RDSA – news – people ) Group, said the agreement allows for the potential sale of 2-3 million tonnes a year of LNG from the Browse project for a period of 15 to 20 years, starting from between 2013 and 2015.

The company said it has not previously sold LNG to Taiwan under a long-term agreement.

The agreement is subject to conditions including a final investment decision and relevant

government approvals.
