LONDON, Feb. 24, 2008 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) — Centrica PLC, the owner of British Gas, is plotting an offer worth up to 600 mln usd for a clutch of North Sea gas fields owned by Royal Dutch Shell PLC (NYSE:RDS A) and Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) Corp, the Sunday Times newspaper reported.
Centrica plans to spend at least 1 bln stg a year over the next few years buying gas fields to supply its customers, the article said, adding the group is believed to be considering an offer for the Nogat project which was put up for sale by Shell and Exxon Mobil late last year.
