There is also a Wikipedia segment.I think its interesting that Shell, such a rich (the richest?) and large company that should, with its seemingly endless resources have one of the most powerful brain trusts in the civilized world, has decided to withdraw its involvement in plans for the construction of the largest off-shore wind project in the world.
I guess the world of corporate and social responsibility reporting hasnt yet gained the credibility it needs to influence the actions of such large companies, particularly the ones who have such a strong foothold in the world of big oil and some of the most powerful countries in the world.
Does it take someone with less intelligence to think it would behoove companies like Shell to put some of their resources toward things that would help the planet theyre so greedily set on raping for crude profits?
Paul Hawken recently wrote in his book Blessed Unrest, how do you describe and American administration that will spend $1 trillion on winning the war for Iraqi oil while refusing to allocate any funds to reduce dependency on oil? For $1 trillion, the United States could have catalyzed the replacement of its entire automobile fleet with plug-in hybrid-electrics getting 500mpg (cars running on batteries 90 percent of the time), powered by renewable energy and biodiesel.
Can\t the same thing can be asked of companies like Shell? Whos asking?
