Paver Smith beats London agencies to UK brief with Shell

Paver Smith has scooped a retained national PR brief with Shell following on from a three-way pitch against two undisclosed teams from London. The new contract, which MD Dougal Paver told How-Do was a major piece of business (a confidentiality clause stopped him revealing the exact value), will see the Liverpool agency looking to raise the profile of Shell Gas Direct, one of the UKs leading suppliers of natural gas. Paver said the client – which, along with the unsuccessful agencies, is based in London – is looking to his team to get out a specific set of messages to a specific audience group. This will entail PS looking to reach SMEs and industrial users to help grow the petroleum giants gas offering. Paver described the win as a real coup for the firm and said that his team is now dealing with the whole spectrum of clients from SMEs with small retainers right through to businesses of the size of Shell.
He added: I think thats a testimony to the strength of the team here and our versatility. On the subject of versatility, Paver also spoke about his new role as a trustee on the board of The Everton Collection, the worlds largest collection of footballing memorabilia. Paver took over the post recently from Tony Tighe, of Mere Communications, and confirmed that he will now be responsible for managing the PR for the collection. Its a fascinating brief, he said. The collection spans the history of the game seen through the prism of one football club. As an Evertonian, he concluded, he was proud to take on the task and promote its importance to regional, national and international audiences. Paver Smith is on course to complete the acquisition of Factory Communications later this month. |
