Royal Dutch Shell PLC, Europe’s biggest oil producer, may be forced to cut output from a North Sea platform if rig managers strike this weekend.
The strike “may possibly have an effect on production,” at the Draugen A platform, Kitty Eide, a Shell spokeswoman, said. “We’re awaiting the discussions.”
The Draugen field pumps about 70,000 barrels a day of oil, she said.
The Norwegian Organization of Managers and Executives is threatening to pull workers from Shell’s Draugen A rig and StatoilHydro ASA’s Snorre A platform on June 7 if a government mediator fails to resolve a dispute over wages and benefits by midnight on June 6, the union said in a statement Monday.
Twenty-six workers from Draugen may be involved in the strike if it goes ahead, Eide said. They work different shifts.
