Gazprom Buys LNG

SINGAPORE (Bloomberg) — Gazprom will buy 500,000 metric tons of liquefied natural gas from Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction to meet the demand of customers of the delayed Sakhalin-2 project, Platts said, citing Frederic Barnaud, director of Gazprom Marketing & Trading.

The first LNG tanker Energy Advance left Abu Dhabi for Japan on July 26, and the contract with the Middle Eastern supplier will end in March 2009, Platts said.

Deliveries from the Sakhalin-2 project to customers in Japan and South Korea were postponed to early next year from the middle of 2008, Platts said.
