Shell pulls more workers due to storm; no output shut

Sun Aug 17, 2008 1:57pm EDT

HOUSTON, Aug 17 (Reuters) – Shell Oil Co (RDSa.L: QuoteProfileResearchStock Buzz) pulled an additional 200 workers from the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Sunday due to the threat from Tropical Storm Fay, the company said in a statement.

None of Shell’s production has been shut since it began pulling workers from the Gulf on Saturday when 200 workers were evacuated.

The evacuated workers are not essential to drilling or production, Shell said. (Reporting by Erwin Seba, editing by Maureen Bavdek)
