Shell says UK’s FLAGS gas pipe to reopen late Mon
LONDON, Sept 1 (Reuters) – Flows of gas through Royal Dutch Shell’s (RDSa.L:Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) import terminal into Scotland are expected to increase through Monday as the FLAGS pipeline reopens after the terminal reopened at the weekend, Shell said.
“It’s a slow build up to normal operations,” a company spokesman said on Monday.
“It’s only accepting gas from the Fulmar gas line at the moment and they are hoping to have the FLAGS line active later today.”
Shell’s terminal at St Fergus closed for the first time in 18 years on Aug. 18, stopping three pipelines from delivering gas from North Sea fields to Britain.
The terminal typically processes over 30 million cubic metres of gas a day during peak winter demand periods, but flows had reached just 8 million cu m by midday Monday, according to data from National Grid. (Reporting by Daniel Fineren)
