LAGOS (Dow Jones)–Production at Royal Dutch Shell PLC’s (RDSB.LN) EA oil field in Nigeria has resumed after more than three years offline, an industry source told Dow Jones Newswires Tuesday.

The field is currently producing 50,000 barrels a day but could soon ramp up to its production capacity of 115,000 barrels a day, the source said.

The EA Field, off-shore Nigeria’s southern Bayelsa State, has been shut down since February 2006 after militants launched a series of attacks and kidnappings there.
