Deadly Implications of Shell Brent Charlie Prohibition Notice

From a retired Shell North Sea Platform Manager…

Yet again Shell have managed to attract the attention of the HSE and have been served a prohibition notice, note not an improvement notice.

Between the lines this is very serious as the HSE normally implement action in stages to allow Operators the opportunity to take action over an agreed time period before imposing such strong measures.  The situation on Brent Charlie must have been a gross violation of the Safety Case.

What has happened to the statements issued time and time again that safety is of the highest priority always.  Being issued a prohibition notice, has to be implemented immediately,  indicates a serious violation and high risk to life of the people working on this unit.
