Chevron, Shell facilities top CO2 emitters

Chevrons Richmond oil refinery was Californias largest emitter of greenhouse gases last year and the nearby Shell refinery in Martinez a close second, the state Air Resource Board said in a report.
The state agency said the Chevron facility pumped out 4.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and related greenhouse gases, with Shell emitting 4.5 million metric tons.
