Former Shell insider speaks out on Iran

Shell management, like most management in multi-national corporations, is completely amoral and holds no loyalties except to the furtherance of their careers and the amassing of plunder, power and influence. They are predators, pure plane and simple, and always looking for the next target of opportunity. Modern day pirates in suits.

From a former Shell insider

Before I went to work for Shell, many years ago, I spend a year doing earthquake hazards work in Iran for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI). I worked on the site at Bushier, where Iran’s only ‘commercial’ reactor is located, and I worked in and around the city of Esfahan, where many of Iran’s nuclear research facilities are located. This was in the last days of the Shah’s regime. I headed up the field team that was doing the mapping for a proposed nuclear power plant to be located SW of Esfahan. The nuclear power plant at Bushier was being built by the French and Germans at that time and was supposed to have come on line in 1981.

The Islamic revolution put a slight crimp in that schedule.

I can remember having dinner one evening with the then Director of AEOI. (The revolutionary government did not do away with that organization.) He was open about Iran’s nuclear power industry and their ambitions. Iran at that time planned to acquire 48 reactors for 24 sites, with each reactor generating somewhere on the order of 1100 mega-watts of power. The power was to electrify the country. Reactors would power the country and the oil and gas would be exported.

But Iran also was planning to become a ‘nuclear power’ and the dominant military power in the region. That was a clearly stated objective and ambition. That ambition clearly has not changed.

Regimes have changed but objective have not. As in the days of the Shah, the religious regime in Iran is still pursuing a nuclear weapons program. No doubt about it. That is a ‘national ambition’.

By trading with Iran companies like Shell are aiding and abetting that program. And they are doing so knowingly and willingly. However, Shell’s only ambition here is profit, and to make as much of it as they can. Those people will sleep with the devil is that is what it takes to make money. What Iran might do with their nuclear weapons is not Shell’s problem.

Shell gets a nice ‘discount’ for Iranian crude they purchase. They also charge top dollar for the refined product they deliver. And they will push the poltical boundaries as far as they can and milk that situation for all it is worth because it is so very profitable.

Shell management, like most management in multi-national corporations, is completely amoral and holds no loyalties except to the furtherance of their careers and the amassing of plunder, power and influence. They are predators, pure plane and simple, and always looking for the next target of opportunity. Modern day pirates in suits.
