Greenpeace brands Memorandum of Understanding a “grubby deal diverting public money into the pockets of the world’s largest corporation”
By James Murray: 10 Feb 2014
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shell that will see the publicly funded research body work with the oil giant on a range of new projects.
The partnership, which was announced on Friday, drew immediate condemnation from green groups, which accused the organisation of diverting public funds to support the extraction of fossil fuels in high-risk regions such as the Arctic.
