A regular contributor, a retired Shell executive, having spotted the latest side bar feature on this website (focused on Shell’s relationship with the depraved Sultan of Brunei), drew my attention to the latest spectacular Brunei Royal Wedding.

It took place in the monarch’s lavish 1,788-room residential palace.”

Prince Abdul Malik, the Sultan’s son and second in line to inherit the throne, celebrated his wedding (picture immediately below) in what has been described as mind-boggling splendour

The Sultan is one of the world’s richest men and a great friend of Shell, which donated $500,000 (Brunei) dollars as a wedding gift for an earlier Brunei Royal Wedding.

Message from a regular contributor about Brunei Shell Petroleum and the recent Royal Wedding

Hello John

I am curious if BSP budgeted for a wedding present for this sharia couple…. I hope the bride behaves, otherwise she may be stoned!

In April last year, the Sultan of Brunei (below) shocked the world by introducing harsh sharia penal code: Under the code, limbs can be severed for theft and people stoned to death.  That has not put Shell off doing business with him.

Just glance through the headlines in the side bar feature to get some idea of why the description “scandal ridden” is well deserved.
