Workers alarmed by burning safety issues at Stanlow oil refinery 

Contractors refusing to work on Stanlow oil site (above) after “numerous safety concerns”

INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM AN INSIDER SOURCE

The fire recently reported in the news media (links below) was in the SHOP plant (Shell Higher Olefins Plant) which is Shell-owned but Essar operated:

SKY NEWS: Stanlow oil refinery in Cheshire evacuated after fire

The cause of the fire has not been announced publicly but is being investigated in detail.

Essar has a history of safety incidents during their operation of the Stanlow refinery (anecdotally the safety performance is gradually getting worse the longer Essar own the refinery):

The latest incident is the SHOP plant fire. The outcome of which is to lay off 184 people due to rebuilding the units being un-economic:
