HOW TO GRAB MAXIMUM ATTENTION AT MINIMUM COST TO VENTILATE YOUR GRIPE OR CAMPAIGN AGAINST SHELL, WHETHER ON THE GROUNDS OF OPL 245 CORRUPTION, PLUNDER, POLLUTION, ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS, PERSONAL INJURY, OR ALLEGED COMPLICITY IN THE MURDER OF THE OGONI 9.

BECOME A SHELL INVESTOR AND GENERATE AWARENESS AT AN INVESTMENT COST OF JUST OVER £30. THAT MODEST INVESTMENT WILL ALLOW YOU TO RAISE A RUCKUS AGAINST ROYAL DUTCH SHELL PLC AT ITS AGM IN FRONT OF THE ASSEMBLED SHELL BOARD, SHELL SHAREHOLDERS AND THE NEWS MEDIA.

The information in italics comes from a Daily Mail article published on 12 August 2019.

You can buy shares through an AJ Bell Youinvest account online for £9.95, for example, with ongoing fees of up to £7.50 a quarter.

You need to purchase only one share in the company you want to target. A share in Shell currently costs £23.98…

Once you are a shareholder, you should be sent the firm’s annual report and other information for investors, which can also be found on its website.

You will also have the right to attend annual general meetings (AGMs) and vote on company policies.

Most AGMs offer the opportunity for shareholders to meet executives afterwards — a good way to engage with bosses one on one.t

…there is a growing movement where savers who want to combat climate change invest a small amount of money in the very companies eco-activists traditionally rail against, such as fossil fuel giants Shell and BP.

In 2017, for example, investors persuaded Shell to pledge to reduce its carbon footprint and invest in green projects.

Although not mentioned in the Daily Mail article, you would have the opportunity to put a question to the Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell Plc and through him to the CEO and other board members. A transcript is made of the “question and answer” session.

Furthermore, the whole AGM proceedings are broadcast live on the Internet.

My family and I became Shell shareholders to exploit these opportunities and it proved a very successful move eventually resulting in a major breakthrough, the personal intervention in our case by the then Chairman of Shell Transport & Trading Co Sir John Jennings.

We handed out leaflets outside the AGM and put them on seats inside.

Our successive visits to the AGM gave Shell management severe jitters from which they were still suffering over a decade late. Shell internal communications prove that they were still wargaming questions we might raise 13 years after we last attended a Shell AGM.

Taking all of this information into account, becoming a Shell shareholder is perhaps the best and lowest-cost way of bringing a grievance to the attention of Shell senior management, Shell shareholders and the news media.

It is also worthwhile considering setting up a gripe website focussed on the target company as it provides a low-cost platform to air your grievance online. Barclays Bank reportedly recently paid British TV legend, Noel Edmonds to settle his grievance against the bank. One of the settlement terms was the closure of his anti-Barclays Bank website.
