Trustpilot Shell Energy Broadband Reviews: Terrible Wifi /lied

Extracts from a Shell Energy customer review posted on Trustpilot: “The quality of the copper wifi is rubbish and constantly disconnects from my TV and laptop. I called up to cancel, within what I think is my legal right to a ‘14 day cooling off period’, only to be informed that Shell’s policy for this always ends the day before you receive your wifi box i.e. you can never try it and then cancel if the service is not good enough.”

Terrible Wifi / lied

Called Shell and asked to purchase fibre optic wifi. They signed me up with Shell broadband (copper) for 18 months as they told me they didn’t have fibre optic in the area. The quality of the copper wifi is rubbish and constantly disconnects from my TV and laptop. I called up to cancel, within what I think is my legal right to a ‘14 day cooling off period’, only to be informed that Shell’s policy for this always ends the day before you receive your wifi box i.e. you can never try it and then cancel if the service is not good enough. What they do offer me is fibre optic wifi, which only 2 weeks ago, they told me they didn’t have in my area and and weren’t aware of any plans for it to come to this area.

I have already signed up with another fibre optic broadband supplier because Shell specifically told me the did not provide this service nor were they aware of when they would. They are now asking for a c.£120 early cancellation fee. Note to self, next time you buy wifi, check the cooling off period allows you to test it first.

I changed to Shell because I thought I…

I changed to Shell because I thought I was getting a better internet speed. I went from a standard broadband to a superfast which I paid extra for the better speed fibre. When I was going through the process Shell were very good. Not until I was tied in to 2 contracts did I find out what they are really like. I had issues at 2 properties with the speed and dropping out issues. When I complained to them on numerous occasions I was fobbed of with excuses. I had less problems with just the standard tariff. They logged my complaints down the as soon as I finished the communications with them I received emails claiming the issues were resolved and closed. As soon as I can get away from them I will be doing. Avoid them like the plague

Very bad.I have been waiting for…

Very bad. I have been waiting for broadband connection for over a month and still there is no connection and I am still waiting for the engineer to come. What a mess.

Total disappointment

Soon after changing my provider to Shell I have lost use of my landline. Shell tells me if they get BT Openreach out to investigate and it’s found to not be a BT fault I’ll have to pay £65!!! This is awful! Now without a landline because I don’t have £65 to spare.
