Fed up trying to dodge Amazon attempts to corral you into joining Amazon Prime?

Have you noticed how increasingly difficult it is becoming to place an order with Amazon without being corralled into a free trial of Amazon Prime?

By John Donovan

Until today, I have managed to successfully dodge Amazon’s persistent extremely annoying attempts to corral me into joining Amazon Prime.

I ended up sending the following message to Amazon:

I DON’T WANT AMAZON PRIME. I WAS TRYING VERY HARD TO PLACE AN ORDER WITHOUT HAVING TO JOIN AMAZON PRIME. ANOTHER PERSON IN MY HOUSEHOLD ALREADY HAS IT. YOU ARE MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DO BUSINESS WITH AMAZON. TOO PUSHY BY FAR. SPOILING AN OTHERWISE GREAT SERVICE. I REPEAT. I DO NOT WANT AMAZON PRIME.

This is the second time I have not completed a purchase from Amazon because I object to the marketing tactics being used.

I do not want to navigate a series of attempts by Amazon during the ordering and delivery steps to sell me a service I don’t want.

I used to be able to complete a transaction logging out within seconds after deciding to place an order. Now you have to be so careful not to accidentally end up with Amazon Prime.

There is a lot to admire about Amazon. It is a shame that the company is resorting to such counterproductive tactics.
