Shell Energy is being investigated by the communications regulator for not telling customers that their broadband contracts were coming to an end.

terrible broadband, terrible customer service

Got broadband through Shell. Speeds are far less than what was advertised, the internet routinely cuts out for extended periods of time, and is generally barely usable. Waited more than a month for a response to email. Customer services are mysteriously always “experiencing a higher number of requests than normal right now” when I want to talk to them. read more

Pathetic

Pathetic, incompetent, ignorant useless company. You thought Post Office Broadband was bad? Shell are even worse. Should not be allowed to operate in the UK, they’re on the level of a backstreet spiv. Avoid.

I was moved over to Shell when my last…

I was moved over to Shell when my last energy company went out of business. I then had to wait for a couple of months until they got around to talking to me. I then had both Electric and Gas pre-payment meters fitted. I got my electric card within 2 days but, after 5 months, I am still waiting for my gas card. My smart meter does not work and they are demanding that I pay them an estimated bill of £290.00. I have spoken to them and explained that I cannot possibly owe anything like the amount they are demanding and I also asked why my Gas card had not been sent to me. However, they are not interested in the mistake they have made, they are only interested in forcing me to pay £290.00 which they know is simply extortionate. This is a prime example of how Shell energy is extorting money from vulnerable and elderly customers. Terrible

Terrible, the internet is on and off, when you call the customer service, it takes more than 20 min and then they never find a solution for you. They said they will send someone to check and the person never finds anything and then they charge you like 60£ for the visit..Still no solution to your problem.

Absolutely ridiculous excuse of a company! They tried to charge me £84 for a missed engineer appointment which I was in for. I spoke to so many people through live chat and by calling customer service and they kept saying it was sorted but nothing got sorted. This issue started at the end of January and has just about been sorted today. They said all they could offer was an apology because of how disorganised this company is. Avoid!! read more

WiFi doesn’t work. Getting support is impossible!

I had Shell Energy broadband installed yesterday after waiting a week for an engineer. The internet connectivity seems ok, but the WiFi won’t switch on. Connecting with the support last night on webchat was painful. It took 2 hours to get to an agent, who then brushed me off with *switch on your WiFi” and “have you tried your username and password?” Before dropping the call. I’ve been holding for their telephone “support” for over an hour. read more

Broadband keeps cutting out and speed problem

Broadband keeps cutting out and speed down to 4mb/s. Tried all solutions on their website but no improvement so tried contact shell by landline but no one will answer phone calls .have been phoning for 2 days now at different times but no answer. time to look for new supplier

Terrible service for shell energy…

Terrible service for shell energy broadband customers. Eternal long contracts where you have no rights in terms of speed, which is far below the contract and what they promise. You can’t even cancel without hefty cancellation fees even if you are moving home where the service is not provided. You call service and all they want is to screw your over. Been trying to get rid of them for ages. I returned the router asap and paid for the usage I had. I also submitted a formal complaint and there is no mercy, no help when you wanna leave due to all this shortcomings. Avoid!! If speeds are slow they don’t care and charge! I wish they would let me go without further trouble and hefty fees when they provided awful internet for months and they still punish the customer. Horrible! Avoid at all cost. read more

After reading through the reviews here I noticed a pattern that all the positive ones use a Shell Operative name in the same way. Most are written by non English writers and its obvious they are fake. Talk about lazy. At least make it look a little bit real! read more

I have had to pay to leave my 12mths contract with Shell Energy Broadband early, which is a disgrace given the terrible service…

By 1pm Broadband failed twice today

… only 1pm and already today the broadband signal has failed to travel the space of less than a metre from the router to my laptop. If you want cheap broadband from Shell Energy, make sure you have loads of wires available to be able to rely on a signal to your devices. Otherwise you will be disappointed with the service. Only 3 more sleeps and I will have a new provider. I have had to pay to leave my 12mths contract with Shell Energy Broadband early, which is a disgrace given the terrible service I have received over the last nine months. I have been advised to contact Ofcom, so this is on my jobs to do list read more

I first heard from a very disgruntled Shell Energy customer, Mr John Wood, in 2019. He was one of the people who encouraged me to launch the shellenergy.website

John was delighted and greatly relieved when his nightmare contractual relationship with Shell Energy came to an end.

Unfortunately, his celebrations were short-lived. The company he switched to went bust and without his permission or consent the energy regulator switched his account back to Shell.

Shell Energy, a company he had come to despise, was forced on him. read more

Not even worth one star

The worst I’ve ever seen. Wifi drops and won’t reconnect for up to an hour (so far) no matter what I do, you have to stand next to the router for a strong connection, calls made with wifi drop randomly and either don’t reconnect or reconnect and are then patchy and bad quality and you can’t use it for games or calls if another person in the house is doing the same. Absolutely terrible company and I’d advise anyone who’s thinking about getting with them to look literally anywhere else. read more

DREADFUL company, apparently switched by Uswitch, loads of agro as when I moved to my new property there was no landline & cottage needed rewire & refurb. This meant that shell could not & did not supply any service. Since then Ive been hounded for connection fees. Now with the Ombudsman. In my opinion this company is beyond belief in their lack of customer service. Advice dont touch. read more

Terrible service. Internet constantly dropping out. 0.5mbps speed during day with regular drops. Constant calls to be told there was no issue. After much hoop jumping Internet seemed average for a while. Now have been without Internet for 5 days. One hour each night on hold to company, during that time after 30 minutes on hold half the time the line is hung up without speaking to anyone. When I finally get through some agents are ridiculously rude and unhelpful and make me feel like it is somehow my fault and I am being unreasonable for expecting a service I’m paying for. I did speak to one lovely lady who said a ticket was raised but now 5 days have passed with no further communication, Internet is still down. Writing this review after being on hold yet again for half an our only to have the line cut off so starting the process again just to try and get a basic Internet service. Would cancel but am told that I have to pay cancellation fees despite the many months of problems and complaints. read more
