A direct mailing and a radio ad for fuel:

a. The direct mailing, sent in early March 2011, was headed “Our scientists have developed a regular fuel to help you save”. Further text stated “The scientists at Shell are committed to creating fuels that improve your fuel economy. Their latest fuels – Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel – are designed to help you save fuel and money. These advanced fuels each have a special formula enriched with a Shell Efficiency Improver combined with a special detergent package – designed to improve your fuel economy from the very first fill. And of course you’ll collect one point for every litre you buy”. Next to the text was an image of a man dressed in a lab coat holding a full 1 litre measuring glass, with text on it that stated “SAVE UP TO 1 LITRE PER TANK* AT NO EXTRA COST”. read more

Shell FuelSave wakens memories of Formula Shell debacle

By John Donovan

Here we are again in the midst of a major Shell advertising campaign with huge colour adverts in the UK national press for a new Shell wonder fuel, this time invented by “Shell Fuel Scientists”: Its called Shell FuelSave

Shell’s Fuel Scientists are being rather cagey about the secret formula – Shell Efficiency improvers – inviting drivers to “guess what they do.” Doesn’t Shell know?

The adverts claim: “Our Fuel Scientists are more than satisfied with the results” described as “a remarkable benefit.” read more

Problems with Shell Fuel Save Diesel

Posting by “schnitzer” 16 August 2010

We have a 2003 Facelift Freelander TD4 HSE, it has run normally and as expected until we filled the vehicle with the new Shell Fuel Save Diesel on Saturday 24th July, 2010, since then the revs are all over the place, the vehicle hesitant when start/stopping at places like roundabouts, struggling at higher speeds on the motorway, really feels bad. The car was checked on Saturday last, no faults were highlighted on the computer, but you could hear that the vehicle was not happy.

Then a BMW X3 diesel came in ! same engine, same Shell fuel, same problem, also nothing reporting on the computer system. read more
